Cook Quinoa Fluffy and Delicious
Cooking quinoa is simple and yields fantastic results for any meal. For the best texture, always rinse your quinoa thoroughly under cold water. This removes saponins, which can cause a bitter taste.
Stove-Top Quinoa Method
Use a 1:2 ratio of quinoa to liquid (water or broth). Combine 1 cup of rinsed quinoa with 2 cups of liquid in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time.
Once simmering is complete, remove the pot from the heat and let it stand, covered, for 5-10 minutes. This allows the quinoa to steam and absorb any remaining moisture, ensuring a fluffy texture. Fluff with a fork before serving. This method works for white, red, black, or tricolor quinoa.
Mastering this basic technique ensures tasty quinoa for salads, breakfast bowls, or as a side dish.
