Boil Perfect Hard-Boiled Eggs

Boiling Hard-Boiled Eggs

Achieving perfectly cooked hard-boiled eggs is simple when you know the timing. For consistently firm yolks and fully cooked whites, bring your eggs to a rolling boil first.

Optimal Cooking Times:

  • 10-12 minutes is the sweet spot for large eggs in boiling water. This duration ensures the yolk is completely set and firm, with no runny center.
  • Place eggs gently into already boiling water. After the 10-12 minutes, immediately plunge them into an ice bath to stop the cooking process and make peeling easier.

This method avoids overcooking, which can lead to rubbery whites and a green ring around the yolk.
