Cook Fluffy White Rice
Achieve perfectly cooked white rice on the stove with this straightforward method. Start with 1 cup of long-grain white rice and rinse it thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch, preventing gummy rice.
Combine the rinsed rice with 2 cups of water and 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat.
Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to the lowest setting, cover the pot tightly with a lid, and let it simmer undisturbed for 15-20 minutes. Avoid lifting the lid during this time.
After simmering, remove the pot from the heat and let it steam, still covered, for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice gently with a fork before serving to separate the grains. This method works for basmati and other long-grain white rice varieties.
