Easy Simple Syrup Recipe
Making simple syrup couldn't be easier. Combine equal parts granulated sugar and water in a saucepan. For one cup of simple syrup, this means one cup of sugar and one cup of water.
Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is completely dissolved. Avoid boiling the syrup; once the sugar is dissolved and the liquid is clear, remove it from the heat. This process takes just a few minutes, making it a quick fix for cocktails or sweetening iced coffee.
Allow the syrup to cool completely before using or storing. Store homemade simple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It typically lasts for about a month. For a richer syrup, use a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water, but be aware this may take slightly longer to dissolve.
